Marcel Lehner's master thesis was published in December 2006 in the well-known, German security magazine "Datenschutz und Datensicherheit".
The magazine was founded in 1977 and is an approved interdisciplinary forum for all juridical and technical questions of data protection and data
security in data processing and communication.

Data loss, loss of productions, economic damages and annoyed users are only some
consequences daily caused by viruses, worms and trojans. During the
last years the number of malicious software has increased steadily. Attacks from the internet are more frequently registered by companies and private
users. But only a fraction of these occurrences are reported, so that the actual number of registered claims is by far higher than assumed.

For a long time Linux was considered as an operating system which only can be used by PC experts.
By the increasing popularity of this system this is no longer the case. The increased use of Linux is the reason why this
operating system meanwhile is also becoming a target of crackers. Some years ago the today's safety mechanisms of Linux has
been still suffcient. But for today`s security needs it takes some adaption in configuration.

The Internet offers a wide range of new possibilities and services to our daily
life, making it easier and more comfortable. As the market for hardware- and software products shows, there is a strong tendency to multimedia and
communication products. To meet the markets demand, company's started developing multimedia products, amongst them protocols and applications
allowing telephony via the Internet. This applications allow to dispatch audio information over an IP based network infrastructure using a special
protocol.
